DISTREE Latin America 2012 delivers channel agreements across region

Second annual Latin American ICT & CE channel development event took place from September 11th to 13th 2012. More than 1,500 pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings took place at three-day event.

BUENOS AIRES, PARIS, LONDON, DUBAI, MOSCOW – DISTREE Latin America 2012 facilitated more than 1,500 one-on-one meetings between ICT and consumer electronics (CE) manufacturers and the region's leading retailers and distributors. Building on its successful launch event last year, DISTREE Latin America 2012 offered a unique business development platform for vendors looking to manage, build or launch routes-to-market in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.

In total, 135 senior executives representing 50 different vendors participated at DISTREE Latin America, which took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the event, they arranged meetings with 55 retail executives from 50 different retailers and 90 distribution executives representing 75 of the region's largest channel players. Channel partners from 16 countries in Latin America attended this year's event.

Tawfik Djafari, Event Director at DISTREE Events, said: "During the event dozens of new agreements were signed between vendors and channel partners – be they distributors or retailers. We expect many more to follow in the months to come based on business relationships that started through one-on-one meetings at DISTREE Latin America."

"DISTREE Latin America is not just for manufacturers that are new to the region. The event format also offers a prime opportunity for vendors that are established in the region to communicate with existing and potential partners from across this vast region," Djafari added.

Microsoft was Platinum Sponsor of DISTREE Latin America with Fabricia Degiovanni, Microsoft's Consumer Channel Group Lead for Argentina and Uruguay, delivered the opening keynote address at the event. Gold Sponsors at this year's event were Kaspersky and Port with Energy Sistem participating as a Silver Sponsor. Argentinean PC assembler PC Arts – the company behind the BANGHO PC brand – was Technical Sponsor of this year's event.

DISTREE Latin America featured a strong content programme featuring Event Partner GfK and Content Partner CONTEXT. The programme included a series of workshop sessions moderated by national channel associations ABRADISTI and CADMI PyA, from Brazil and Argentina respectively.

DISTREE Latin America also featured the 'LatAm Channel Academy: 2012 Awards' where channel partners from across the region voted live for their preferred vendor in a number of product

categories, evaluating brands on their channel strategy in the region. Microsoft picked up two awards with Energy Sistem, HP, Kingston, Lenovo, Linksys and Sony winning one apiece.

The '60 Seconds to Convince Awards' during DISTREE Latin America provided an exciting platform for manufacturers to deliver an elevator pitch for their latest products. Urban Factory won the Best Product Design award with Siano emerging triumphant in the Best Product Innovation category.

Editorial staff from leading channel publications and websites also attended DISTREE Latin America 2012, ensuring region-wide exposure for manufacturers in attendance. This included publications from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and USA.

"This year's event attracted more new channel partners and the initial feedback from manufacturers has been excellent," added Djafari. "The planning is already underway for DISTREE Latin America 2013, which will take place in Brazil. We look forward to helping even more vendors understand the tangible business benefits that DISTREE Latin America provides."
